A vibrant opening concert and a welcome return to Leasowes for pianist Mark Troop and his innovative and imaginative Chamber Music Company. This lively ensemble celebrates its 25th anniversary with a performance of music and words. Settings of Shakespeare by, among others, Vaughan Williams, Thomas Arne, Guy Woolfenden, Ilona Sekacz . Songs and poems by E.M. Buckle – “The Shepherd” with music by Edward Watson. Leasowes Bank looks set to be the perfect setting for this evening of celebration.

‘Rockin’ in Rhythm’ takes you on a journey through the many moods of Duke Ellington’s music. From the opening theme ‘Take the A Train’ through the contrast of ‘Echoes of Harlem’ with a rare appearance of ‘Lady of the Lavender Mist’. Singer Sarah Moule reworks the Ellington songbook in her flawless, swinging style. A stellar line-up and a terrific finale to this year’s series.
